Disposal instructions

Dispose of batteries and accumulators in an environmentally friendly manner

Batteries and accumulators contain resources and pollutants. Therefore, every consumer is legally obligated to dispose of old batteries and accumulators at an approved collection point. This ensures that they are recycled in an environmentally friendly and resource-saving manner.

On batteries containing harmful substances, you will find the chemical symbols Cd for cadmium, Hg for mercury, and Pb for lead. Batteries are marked with the following symbol, which means that they must not be disposed of with household waste:

Electrical appliances contain valuable resources as well as pollutants. Therefore, every consumer is legally obligated to dispose of old electrical appliances at an authorized collection or return point, such as a local waste disposal or recycling center. Old electrical appliances are accepted free of charge and recycled in an environmentally friendly and resource-saving manner. You can also find nearby authorized collection points at: www.take-e-back.de . Old electrical appliances with an edge length of up to 25 cm are accepted free of charge there, regardless of the number of old appliances.

The prerequisite for accepting devices with an edge length of more than 25 cm at take-e-back collection points is that you have purchased a new device from us and can prove this by presenting a corresponding receipt.
By the way: If you cannot find a collection point nearby at www.take-e-back.de, our customer service will be happy to help you.

Free collection of old devices

If a new device belonging to categories 1 (heat exchangers: e.g. refrigerators and freezers, air conditioners), 2 (screens, monitors and devices with a screen surface of more than 100 cm²: e.g. televisions, laptops, tablets) or 4 (large appliances with at least one external dimension exceeding 50 cm: e.g. washing machines, dishwashers, pedelecs) is delivered to your private household in accordance with the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act, you are legally entitled to have an old device of the same type that essentially performs the same functions as the new device collected free of charge. You will therefore be asked directly during the ordering process whether you intend to return an old device when the new device is delivered.

If this service isn't offered during the ordering process, the new device either doesn't fall into one of the above-mentioned categories, or the legal regulations regarding the return of old devices aren't applicable for other reasons. In this case, you can of course use the other disposal options mentioned above.

Why do old electrical appliances have to be handed in at a collection point?

Electrical devices contain valuable resources as well as pollutants. Collection centers hand over old devices to certified disposal companies, which first examine whether the devices can be refurbished and reused. Ideally, old products can be refurbished. If reuse isn't possible, the old devices are treated accordingly. Pollutants are removed from the devices, and valuable resources are recycled. This protects the environment and increasingly scarce resources.

Note on waste prevention

According to the provisions of Directive 2008/98/EC on waste and its implementation in the legislation of the Member States of the European Union, waste prevention measures generally take priority over waste management measures. Waste prevention measures for electrical and electronic equipment include, in particular, extending the service life of electrical and electronic equipment by repairing defective equipment and disposing of functional used equipment instead of sending it for disposal. Further information can be found in the Federal Government's Waste Prevention Program with the participation of the states .

Please remove batteries and bulbs

Please remove any old batteries and rechargeable batteries that are not enclosed in the old electrical device before handing them in. Please then dispose of them as described above. Please also remove any lamps/bulbs that can be removed from the old device without damaging it before handing in old electrical devices. Please then dispose of both separately as described below.

Remove liquid operating fluids

Please note that returning/carrying petrol-powered items is only possible after the tank has been completely emptied.

Don't forget to delete data

Please note: Each consumer is responsible for deleting personal data from the electrical or electronic device.

Dispose of light bulbs, lamps and luminaires in an environmentally friendly manner

Most lamps/lighting devices (compact and tubular fluorescent lamps, energy-saving lamps, discharge lamps, and LEDs) contain harmful substances and waste resources. Therefore, every consumer is legally obligated to dispose of them at an approved collection point. This ensures that they are recycled in an environmentally friendly and resource-saving manner. You can dispose of lamps/lighting devices and lights free of charge at your local recycling center.
You can also find approved collection points nearby at www.take-e-back.de. Light bulbs, lamps, and lamps are accepted there free of charge.

Compact fluorescent lamps, metal halide lamps, fluorescent tubes, and neon lamps may contain small amounts of mercury. If the lamp is damaged, avoid skin contact! Collect the broken pieces with damp paper or cardboard and store the remains in an airtight container, such as a screw-top jar, for transport to a recycling center or hazardous waste collection point. Ventilate the room for about 30 minutes. Please do not vacuum up the broken pieces.

Incandescent and halogen lamps can be disposed of with household waste. If you are unsure of the type of lamp, please dispose of it at a suitable collection point.
